Moabi Setshidi
Lives in: Johanessburg
Age: 30

Moabi is an auditor with SARS. He is married with three kids and lives in Gauteng. Moabi is very focused on his work and has ambitions to one day be the Head of SARS.

Moabi has a wicked sense of humour and says he lives each day as if it were his last. He speaks Setswana, English, Afrikaans, Zulu and Sotho. “I’m a pretty ordinary guy I guess, I’m calm and practical and I don’t have any outstanding achievements like climbing Everest or anything like that.

“The most physical thing I’ve done is helping to kill a cow and then cutting the meat into small edible pieces to be cooked. I also once drove to Harare and back to Jo’burg in just 40 hours. I hate snakes and rats – when I was ten a snake nearly dropped on me when I let the garage door down and I nearly died of fright. The bravest thing I ever did was save my friend Sam from drowning

“To prepare for the competition I drank lots of castor oil as it’s what my mom used to give me as kid – she says it cleans the system and builds strength. If I win Fear Factor it would be my greatest dream to take my family to Manchester in the UK to visit my mom. I would also buy a new car and take my kids to a better school.

“I’m definitely in the competition for the money and prove to others that I can be tough and not just an accountant type. I’ve had a look at the other contestants and my strength is that I’m practical and focused. I’m not going to brag about my strength and stuff like that, a lot of the competition will be about using your brains and that’s what I’m good at.”

More about Moabi: “My favourite things are hot (chilli) food, watching sport on TV, playing with my kids, music by Anita Baker, and the celebrity I most admire is Boris Becker. My most embarrassing moment is really embarrassing: “I unfortunately had to do a number two at my friend’s house and it just wouldn’t flush down the loo – it involved calling my friends wife and asking for a bucket!”
