Bio
Fezile Mpela is a South African actor and television presenter best known for his leading roles as Vusi in the first season of the SABC1 drama series Mzansi, and as Sello in the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan.
Born in Krugersdorp in 1973, Mpela studied drama at the Pretoria Technikon. In April 1994 he joined M-Net as a continuity presenter.
Since then he has had leading roles in numerous major television shows including Mzansi, Generations, 7de Laan, Song Vir Katryn, Molofish II and Isidingo.
Other shows he has had major roles in include Vive La Difference, Going Up, Homelands, Gaabo Motho, Fela's TV, Soul City and Kelebone.
He also hosted the South African version of the international cooking show Ready Steady Cook on SABC2, from 2003-2004.
Mpela has also appeared in numerous feature films, including Drum, The Lion King and Born Free 2. In addition, he has had roles in the made-for-TV movies Coup! (2006) and Folge deinem Herzen (2006).
Mpela is an established theatre actor as well, having performed in such shows as Songs and Tales from Africa, Kapt'uit op Afrikaans, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Too Many Cooks, Museum of Modern Mistakes, The Blacks, Roses and Angels, and Private Venture.
He has hosted numerous prestigious events including the The All Africa Film Awards (1994), the Loerie Awards, The SAMA Awards (2005), Mr and Mrs Pretoria, and various M-Net events.
In 2005 he played the lead role of Vusi in the first season of Mzansi. He was replaced by Thapelo Mokoena for the second season due to other commitments.
Mpela played the leading role of Paulus Tshukudu in the SABC2 dramedy Andries Plak, from 6 April - 28 September, 2007.
In April 2008 he guest starred in an episode of the SABC1 drama series Mtunzini.com in the role of Prosper Baloyi - a BEE tycoon, womaniser and restaurateur suspected of murdering a nanny - in the episode entitled "The Nanny (Part 1)" - Season 2, Episode 12.
He had a leading role as Lucky, a version of The Fool, in the SABC1 mini-series adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear, Izingane zoBaba, from April to May 2008.
Mpela was the host of the SABC2 game show Where Were You?, which aired on the channel from August to November, 2008.
He was the narrator of the first season of the South African version of the genealogy documentary series Who Do You Think You Are? (based on the British series of the same name), which premiered on SABC2 in May 2009.
In 2011 he starred as corrupt mayor Malusi in the SABC1 drama series Intsika and in 2012 he was the voice over artist for the M-Net reality competition series MasterChef South Africa, continuing for Season 2 in 2013.
He also starred as Thato "TT" Mgale, David's childhood friend and the public face of King's casino, in the SABC3 drama series High Rollers, in 2013.
His favourite television show is Smallville and his nickname is Fuzzy.
