Tichina Arnold is an American actress best known for her roles on television sitcoms, namely as Pamela James on Martin, as the mother, Rochelle, on Everybody Hates Chris and as Nicole on One on One.
Arnold has also appeared on television in the shows Ryan's Hope, All My Children, The Cosby Show, Law & Order, Soul Food, The Jamie Foxx Show and The Norm Show.
On the big-screen, Arnold has starred in Big Momma's House, with Martin Lawrence, and the critically acclaimed Civil Brand, with Mos Def and LisaRaye McCoy, as well as Dancing in September, Scenes from a Mall and The Little Shop of Horrors.
After getting her first taste of performing in front of her family's church congregation at age 4, Arnold began training vocally and appearing on stage at an early age.
She first appeared in The Me Nobody Knows at Brooklyn's Billie Holiday Theatre, followed by Hair, Romance and Hard Times, and Haggadah at The Joseph Papp Theatre.
In 2004, she toured in the lead role of the musical hit If These Hips Could Talk, which broke box-office records in over 55 cities.
In addition, Arnold lends her time to several charitable organisations and events, including the Kids Choice Awards and the NAACP Image Awards.
In May 2018 Tichina joined the cast of the South African prison drama series Lockdown, in which she plays inmate Paulette Scott. She debuts in Season 3 in July 2018.
She frequently sings the National Anthem at celebrity sporting events, and also remains active in her community by speaking out on issues that involve the NAACP in the entertainment industry.
