Bio
Melusi Yeni is a South African actor and singer best known for his role as Bheki Shabalala in the SABC1 drama series Tshisa, from 2006-2009 (with a guest appearance in the first two episodes in 2012).
He also starred as Isaac Tladi, the self-involved rogue superstar ranger, in the M-Net soap opera The Wild, from 2011-2012.
He played Phenyo Mazibuko on the SABC1 soapie Generations from February 2012 to December 2013 when his character was written out of the soapie.
Yeni's background is in singing - he did a stint with the Natal Youth Choir, which resulted in a tour with South African supergroup Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
He left his home in KwaMashu in 2006 and headed to Johannesburg to pursue a career in acting.
Yeni has appeared in a number of television shows including the SABC3 soapie Isidingo, the SABC2 soapie Muvhango and the SABC1 drama series Home Affairs and Mtunzini.com.
In Mtunzini.com he played the role of Zam, a cocky farmhand suspected of murder, in the episode entitled "The Three Sisters (Part 1)" - Season 3, Episode 1.
He played the role of Mabutho Sokhulu, a lawyer who owns a practice with his brother, in the SABC1 drama series Sokhulu & Partners, from 2008-2016. It was his first leading role in television.
In 2011 he played the role of Mthunzi in the SABC1 mini-series Shreds & Dreams, based on the 2004 play of the same name directed by Clare Stopford.
In early 2016 he debuted on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City in the role of Thabiso.
In 2019 Melusi debuted on Imbewu: The Seed as Manqoba Dlamini, a Financial Forensic Investigator who is contracted by Shria (Kajal Maharaj) to investigate Maharaj’s (Jack Devnarain) alleged fraudulent dealings. He first appeared in Season 1, Episode 200, which aired on Friday 18 January, 2019.
