Bio
Sarahann Doherty is a South African actress, singer and dancer best known for her role as nursing sister Roelien Verwey-Koster in the M-Net drama/soapie Binneland Sub Judice (formerly known as Binnelanders), from 2005-2008.
Doherty received acting training at the UCLA School of Theatre and the American Academy of Dramatic Art (both in the USA).
She was trained in singing by Ruth Morrison and Rebecca Holbrock; received voice training from Jim Demonic, Susan Finch and Dr Haskell; and was schooled in dance by Renee Haylet and Sandy Zechner at the New York School of Ballet and the Johannesburg Youth Theatre.
She has an extensive theatre resume which includes performances in Rymers Of Eldridge, Cradle Song, Maid Under Milkwood, The Marriage Of Betty Boo, Fanny`s First Play, Die Pop, Snarks & Boojams, Secure The Crown and Knifed.
She has also acted in the films Barefoot In The Park, In The Lack Of Luxury, Musings, Bad Date and While Supplies Last.
In television she has acted in What Would You Do for the Lifetime Network, playing the role of Allyson. She also played the guest role of Dr. Tilley in the SABC3 soapie Isidingo.
She presented the shows Mini TV (a show for kids) and Afrikaans for Africa, as well as a music show simply entitled X.
In 2005 she was cast as the bitchy nurse Roelien Verwey in M-Net's first original drama series, Binnelanders, which premiered in October that year.
She continued playing the role in the second and third seasons, but on Tuesday 20 November 2007 it was announced that she had decided not to renew her contract after the third season.
She continued to appear in the show until the third season ended in 2008.
