Malik Yoba is an American actor best known for his roles in the television series New York Undercover, Girlfriends, Thief and Alphas.
Yoba is a three-time NAACP Image Award winner and the creator, writer, director and producer of BET.com's ShopTalk: What's On The Hearts Of Men.
He is a film, stage and television veteran of nearly 20 years and is also known for his roles in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married and Why Did I Get Married Too, Paramount's Girlfriends, Fox Television's New York Undercover and the Disney classic Cool Runnings.
Overall, he has appeared in more than 25 films and starred in numerous television series and stage plays.
Yoba is also an activist, educator, inspirational speaker, entrepreneur and author. Before becoming an internationally known celebrity, this Bronx, NY native was an educator in New York City Public Schools working with several high-profile youth leadership organisations here and abroad and by 23 years old was the vice president of The City Kids Foundation.
In 2003, Yoba established The Malik Yoba National Theatre Company (The MYNT Company), which creates, acquires, produces and distributes content for the urban theatre market.
His stage musicals include What's on The Hearts of Men and Acoustic Chocolate. The MYNT Company is also a proud sponsor of the Hip Hop Theatre Festival.
Yoba's book, Please Return My Phone Call: Preventing the Demise of Personal and Professional Relationships is a handbook for business and interpersonal relationships. In 2009 he joined forces with Chris "Kazi" Rolle in the Together Apart Live Convo relationship seminars.
His solo show, Harlem To Hollywood, had its New York premiere at the New York Hip Hop Theatre Festival in October 2010.
He also has a starring role as Vernon Turner, Lucious' longtime friend and business partner and chairman of Empire Entertainment, in the musical drama television series Empire.
