Carey Mulligan is a British actress best known for her roles as Kitty Bennet in the 2005 feature film Pride & Prejudice (her screen acting debut), and as orphan Ada Clare in the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel Bleak House, in the same year.
She has also acted in the made-for-TV movies Marple: The Sittaford Mystery (2006), Trial & Retribution: Sins of the Father (2006), Northanger Abbey (2007) and My Boy Jack (2007).
Mulligan got her first major appearance playing Kitty Bennet in Pride and Prejudice alongside Keira Knightley, Judy Dench and Donald Sutherland.
She has narrated a number of programmes for the CBeebies channel, and starred in the BBC series The Amazing Mrs Pritchard in 2006.
In 2007 she made a guest appearance in the BBC TV series Doctor Who, and appeared in the Royal Court Theatre's production of The Seagull, which opened in January 2007.
Her second feature film - And When Did You Last See Your Father? - will debut sometime in 2007.
