Suleka Mathew is an Indian-born Canadian actress best known for her television roles as Dr. Sunita 'Sunny' Ramen on the Canadian television drama series Da Vinci's Inquest (1998-2003), and as Sara on the dramedy series Men in Trees, from 2006-2008.
She also had a starring role as Dina Tomlin, Marta's best friend and Mike's loyal and caring wife whose willful blindness to her husband's transgressions puts a strain on her relationship with Marta, in the short-lived crime drama television series Red Widow, in 2013.
Born in Kerala, India and raised in Canada, Suleka has worked extensively as a professional actress for more than 20 years in film, television, radio and theatre.
Best known for her starring roles in the romantic comedy series Men in Trees and the drama Da Vinci’s Inquest, she earned three Leo Award nominations for Best Actress for her role in The Latter, the critically acclaimed crime drama series.
Mathew’s film credits include co-starring in the Sundance hit Touch of Pink, directed by Ian Iqbal Rashid, and Deepa Mehta’s romantic comedy Republic of Love.
Memorable television performances include recurring roles on The West Wing, The Crow and The Dead Zone. She also co-starred with Campbell Scott and Darryl Hannah in the sci-fi miniseries Final Days of Planet Earth.
Mathew was part of the multi-discipline cast of the award winning film Shadow Pleasures, inspired by the work of Michael Ondaatje.
She starred as Bobbie Jackson in the medical drama series Hawthorne from 2009-2011.
Her birthday is 11 May.
