Bio
Jana Strydom is a South African actress best known for her television roles as Helena Moolman in the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan, as Marcelle in the M-Net soapie Egoli and as Kate Ferreira in the SABC2 drama series Erfsondes.
When she finished matric, she went overseas to work and travel Europe for two years. She returned and enrolled at the Tswane University of Technology (previously known as Technikon Pretoria) where she graduated Cum Laude with a B-Tech Drama diploma.
Jana works as a performer in television, film, theatre and the voice market. She received the People Magazine's Crystal Award in 2004 for the best newcomer to the industry.
She has worked for companies such as Franz Marx Films, where she played the part of the straightforward but slightly jaded PA, Marcelle Crafford in Egoli; Urban Brew, where she presented and hosted a Talkshow called Lifestyle and Imani Media, where she portrayed the role of Kate Ferreira in Erfsondes – a woman in search of her biological parents.
After Erfsondes I, Jana was well established and decided to join Danie Odendal Produksies, playing the role of Helena Moolman in 7de Laan, a tough cookie who is as stubborn in business as in her relationships.
Other television credits include Donkerland, and international Samsung campaign as well as a 2013 Silwerskerm Film Award as best actress in a short film for Vashou Ding.
In 2014 she had a starring role as Karen le Roux, a sought after interior designer who is always in control of her life and her environment until a freak accident kills her only child, in the SABC2 drama series Swartwater.
