Bio
Liam Magner is a South African actor best known for his role as surfer Mike Jennings in the SABC1 drama series Bay of Plenty, from 2007-2008.
Magner studied at Durban High School and completed his honours degree in Drama and Performance at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
He has been performing since high school where he claimed the drama prize three years in a row and the lead in two school musicals.
In his first year out of school he performed at the "Not the Grahamstown Festival", in Dennis Rubin’s award winning One Margarita Please. This was also the first year that he began formulation of his band The Neon Anthems.
Liam has worked as one of Durban’s top models since 2004 and is currently signed with ICE Models. His work ranges from editorial work to ramp shows, as well as product endorsement and commercials.
With the comic duo the Neon Anthems, Magner has written and appeared in three productions along with C. Van Heerden. He received the "Best New Male South African Actor" award at the Durban Theatre Awards in 2005, as well as the "Best New South African Script" award for the Neon Anthems Flying Comedy Show.
He currently hosts the children's continuity program Reel Peeps that can be seen on SABC3.
Magner had a lead role in the movie Oil on Water in 2007, as well as roles in two other short films.
An avid musician, Liam mixes music and creates his own live brand of electronic hip hop.
