Nomonde Mbusi is a South African actress best known for her role as gospel singer Brenda on the SABC1 drama series Usindiso, from 2007-2008.
Born in Durban, Kwa Mashu on March 29, 1976 Nomonde started acting in school plays until she matriculated in Southlands Secondary School – Havenside.
She studied for a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts at the University of Zululand and relocated to Johannesburg in August 1996 to pursue a career as an actor.
Her first professional performances were in children's theatre with AREPP (African Research and Educational Puppetry Programme), from 1997.
Her television appearances include supporting roles on the mini-series Ubizo (The Calling) as Ayanda, as Ziyanda on Tsha Tsha IV and a brief appearance on Generations as Mokopi. All the above shows were on SABC1.
In 2012 she had a guest starring role as Felicia in the e.tv drama series 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls.
She also appeared in the Proudly South African commercial by the International Marketing Campaign.
Nomonde has done numerous theatre productions and is best known for her powerful and moving performance as Fikile on Flipping the Script (2004-2007) at the Market Theatre, Grahamstown and Cape Town.
Nomonde is also a voice artist for radio and television commercials, The Magic Cellar (SABC2) and Yo TV Land (SABC1). She is a playwright, an in-house scriptwriter for Urban Brew, a human rights activist and artistic director for Black Onyx Productions.
