Bio
Paschal English is an American judge who was a contestant on the fourth season of reality television show Survivor. He is notable for being the only Survivor to be eliminated based on pure luck.
Paschal came fourth in Survivor: Marquesas, and was a member of the jury.
In the last episode, when the remaining players were English, Neleh Dennis, Vecepia Towery, and Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien, the four could not agree on whom to vote out (Kathy and Vecepia voted against Neleh, while Neleh and Paschal voted against Kathy. Paschal had not been voted against.)
Jeff Probst had three of the survivors pull rocks out of a bag (Vecepia did not pull a rock as she had won immunity). Two of them were yellow and one was purple.
English got the purple rock and was eliminated.
His time on Survivor was notable for his alliance with Neleh Dennis. Together, they were part of the counter-alliance against the "Rotu 4," led by John Carroll, in the most significant power shift on the show up to that point.
English was born in Birmingham, Alabama. At two years of age, he and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he went on to attend junior and senior high school.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Georgia in Athens.
English currently serves as a Superior Court Judge in the Griffin Judicial Circuit in Georgia.
He was a member of the United States Air Force from 1969-73, serving in Southeast Asia from 1971-72. After leaving the Air Force as a Captain, he joined the Georgia Air National Guard where he retired in 1998 as a Colonel.
Prior to his appointment in 1987 as a Superior Court Judge, English served as Chief Assistant District Attorney for 12 years.
English enjoys jogging, traveling and watching athletic events.
He is a member of the Thomaston Bar Association, Griffin Circuit Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association and First United Methodist Church of Thomaston (he is a member of the administrative board).
