Bio
Edi Gathegi is a Kenyan-born American actor best known for his recurring role as Cole in the medical drama television series House (2007) and as Laurent in the films Twilight and its sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
He also had a starring role as Darren, a capable handyman who resents a know-nothing like Jack telling him what to do, in the short-lived sitcom Family Tools, in 2013.
Initially recognised for his recurring role on House as Dr. Cole (AKA: Big Love), Gathegi went on to join the ensemble cast of the box office phenomenon Twilight, then reprised his role as Laurent in the 2009 sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
He was also seen in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. Additionally, he made his Los Angeles stage debut top-lining Superior Donuts at the prestigious Geffen Playhouse, which garnered him an Ovation Award nomination.
Gathegi's notable film credits include features Gone Baby Gone, directed by Ben Affleck; Death Sentence, opposite Kevin Bacon; Crank, with Jason Statham; My Bloody Valentine 3D and the literary adaptation Atlas Shrugged.
Previous television credits includes Nikita, CSI, CSI: Miami, Veronica Mars, Lincoln Heights and the critically acclaimed Life on Mars.
No stranger to stage production, his theatre resume includes Two Trains Running at the prestigious Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, and regional stage work including King Hedley II, Blues for an Alabama Sky, Golden Boy, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, The Crucible, Fade, A Maiden's Prayer (Santa Barbara Independent Award), A Raisin in the Sun, Othello, a Midsummer Night's Dream, Cyrano and Dutchman.
Gathegi graduated from NYU's famed MFA program for acting and currently resides in Los Angeles.
