Bio
Keith Powell is an American actor best known for his role as straight-laced and scholarly writer Toofer on the television comedy series 30 Rock, from 2006-2013.
Powell, along with the 30 Rock cast, was nominated for a 2008 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Other notable television work includes a starring role in the ABC pilot Judy's Got A Gun as a straight-laced detective, a guest lead role on Law & Order: Criminal Intent as an obsessive frat boy, and an appearance on Law & Order as a suave record executive.
He has appeared onstage at the nation's top regional theatres in everything from Shakespeare to contemporary works, in roles that range from rappers to kings to the cognitively disabled.
He became the country's youngest Artistic Director of a professional theatre when he founded Contemporary Stage Co. in Wilmington, Delaware at 22 years old.
At CSC he has produced, directed, and/or performed in plays starring Lynn Redgrave, Keith David, Jasmine Guy, Richard Easton and Sean Patrick Thomas.
Upcoming projects include creating and directing a new musical by Grammy Nominee and Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik, with a book by Obie winner Kyle Jarrow. He is also writing and developing several movie projects.
Keith lives in Brooklyn and is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
