Eastbound & Down is an American comedy series created by Ben Best, Jody Hill and Danny McBride and starring McBride as Kenny Powers, a former professional baseball pitcher, who after an up and down career in the major leagues, is forced to return to his hometown middle-school in Shelby, North Carolina as a substitute physical education teacher.
Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) is an obnoxious and cocky relief pitcher in professional baseball who is forced to retire following a well publicized scandal.
He returns home to his humble hometown to live with his understanding yet perturbed brother, played by John Hawkes. In order to prevent his brother from kicking him out, Kenny Powers takes a job as a substitute gym teacher at his old high school.
Kenny's ego and the conservative students and faculty provide a volatile mix in this audacious comedic sitcom.
