The Scream Awards is an American award show dedicated to the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres of feature films, television shows and comic books which includes the year between the previous awards show and the live ceremony in October of each year.
The awards premiered in the USA on 9 October, 2006, and have been held annually since.
The Scream Awards aired in South Africa for the first time in 2010, on TopTV's Star! channel, on Saturday 11 December 2010. The following year the awards moved to TopTV's Showtime Africa channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
The 2011 Scream Awards aired on Showtime on Saturday 12 November 2011, at 21h00. The ceremony was two hours long.
Synopsis
An evening where galaxies collide and genres unite for the ultimate celebration of all things sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic book.
The event is the first and only global event of its kind to honour and celebrate the hottest films, TV shows, comics, actors, creators, icons and pioneers who have influenced and shaped these genres.
The annual event also features World Premieres from some of the most anticipated theatrical and television releases.
