Help Me Help You is an American television sitcom created by Jennifer Konner and Alexandra Rushfield about a collection of eccentric individuals in group psychotherapy with a respected therapist — who may quite possibly have more problems than his patients.
The series aired in the USA on ABC from 26 September to 12 December, 2006. There are 13 half-hour episodes in the series, although only nine aired in the USA before the show was cancelled.
Help Me Help You aired in South Africa on M-Net from 29 March to 21 June, 2007, on Thursdays at 19h00. New episodes broadcast weekly.
Synopsis
Dr. Bill Hoffman is a brilliant therapist with a lucrative practice and the author of several definitive psychotherapy texts.
His success and over-inflated ego is dealt a blow when he is forced to come to grips with the end of his 25-year marriage. At the same time he needs to deal with the news that his daughter is dating her psychology professor - a man old enough to be her father. Things are changing way too fast and Bill is struggling to keep up.
When it comes to his group patients, Bill also has his work cut out for him. The newest group member, Dave, recently attempted suicide by jumping out of his office window and landing on his boss and Jonathan is a self-avowed metro-sexual who is in serious denial that he might possibly be gay.
Inger is a 25-year-old,self-made millionaire who lacks social skills and hasn't had a real date in over six years, Darlene has too many psychological issues to count - including an obsession with Bill - and Michael has anger issues at work, which is what led him into mandatory group therapy.
