Redneck Island is an American reality competition television series hosted by Stone Cold Steve Austin which strands a group of "rednecks" - from Southern, mostly rural communities - on a deserted island where they compete in two teams for food and immunity, voting out one contestant per week until a winner remains.
The series premiered in the USA on CMT on 9 June, 2012.
Redneck Island premiered in South Africa on DStv's Vuzu channel on Tuesday 2 July 2013, at 19h30. It later began airing on M-Net Series Reality, from Season 2. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 3 premiered on M-Net Series Reality on Thursday 1 May 2014, at 21h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 10 episodes in the third season.
Synopsis
Hosted by WWE superstar Steve Austin, Redneck Island will take orginary red, white and blue-collared Americans out of their element, and far away from cold beer, for the ultimate redneck-style competition series.
From a remote tropical paradise, Austin will guide the men and women through a number of hilarious mental and physical challenges designed to celebrate the group's strengths and limitations in a quest for $100,000.
At the end of each episode, teammates will send one competitor packing.
Redneck Island is executive produced by Cris Abrego and Matt Westmore from 51 Minds Entertainment and Clay Newbill from 310 Entertainment, along with Steve Austin from Broken Skull Ranch Productions.
Jayson Dinsmore and Melanie Moreau serve as executive producers for CMT.
