Vuka Mawulele is a South African mystery drama television miniseries created by Themba A. Sibeko and produced by White Heron Pictures and Sidewalk Productions which follows the love story of two star-crossed lovers who are separated when, the night before her wedding, the bride-to-be gets into an accident and falls into a three-year coma, only to awake and find out that not all is as it seems.
The series premiered on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel as part of its "Lokshin Bioskop Series" strand on Saturday 3 August 2013, at 19h00. There are five hour-long episodes in the series, which later aired on Mzansi Wethu. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Synopsis
Lerato falls into a coma the day before her wedding and wakes up three years later to discover that all is not as it seems...
This dramatic five-part series joins a dynamic Soweto-based family made of a single and widowed father and two beautiful, young daughters who are caught up in a web of deception and pain which leads them on a journey of self-discovery.
Kgotso and Lerato are star-crossed lovers from different backgrounds. He's rich and she's poor. But their love can withstand anything. Until their lives take an unexpected turn when Lerato gets into a car accident the night before her wedding.

Vuka Mawulele stars Keneilwe Matidze, Lebo Pelesane, Sello Motloung, Ferry Jele and Kea Morake, with recurring guests Sana Mchunu, Gcina Mkhize, Kagiso Diseko and Vuyani Mzayiya.
Produced by White Heron Pictures and Sidewalk Productions, the series was created by Themba A. Sibeko and written by Busisiwe Ntintili (head writer), Sihle Hlophe, Lerato Khanye, Thishiwe Ziqubu, Thabo Lehlongwa and Themba A. Sibeko. Episode 2: Time Changes Everything
Lerato still has no memory of Kgotso after waking up from her coma. Lerato's best friend takes her to a sangoma to try to get her memory back. Meanwhile, Kgotso and Lerato's sister, Ipuseng, are keeping the shameful secret of their affair from their families.

Episode 3: Betrayal
Lerato's nightmares are getting worse and her best friend thinks that someone was trying to kill her. When Lerato discovers that Kgotso and Ipuseng are having an affair, she starts to think that Ipuseng orchestrated her accident to steal her life. Meanwhile, Lerato's father James tries his luck at love.

Episode 4: Blood is Thicker
Lerato discovers more damning information about her sister. James' new girlfriend is controlling his life and everyone can see it except him. Kgotso decides to do right by a pregnant Ipuseng and starts lobola negotiations. Grace tries to get rid of Ipuseng but Ipuseng knows secrets about Grace and threatens to expose Grace to her son.

Episode 5: Wedding Day
Lerato's memory finally returns and the truth about her accident shocks everyone. Meanwhile, Ipuseng's lies finally catch up with her. James realises that love has been right in front of him all this time. And Lerato and Kgotso can no longer deny their feelings for each other.
