Synopsis
Vertically-challenged Mashapa lives in a crime-ridden township of Skotiphola. The Master Sensei of Africa also holds a triple black belt in martial arts and is the original Kasi Superhero.
Mashapa stands for truth, justice and integrity as he solves one crime after another through his shrewd investigation skills and a generous dose of his unique martial arts, not to mention his snappy taste in clothing.
When Mashapa realises that most of the crime in Skotiphola is because of the deranged plan of a criminal mastermind, he vows to do everything he can to stop her.
However, his plans change when he starts to suspect that the kingpin is actually the woman he loves. Can Mashapa do the right thing?
With story by Nkosinathi Mbelu, Kasi Superhero is executive produced by Patronella Sello for Magic Factory. Julie Hall and Katleho Ramaphakela were the head writers and Alda Venter the series producer. The series was directed by Mzonke Madotyeni.
Episodes
Episode 1: Clothes Make the Man
For the first time, Mashapa - a kung fu-trained midget - experiences crime in his neighbourhood firsthand when all of his clothes are stolen from the washing line where they had been left to dry overnight.
Dressed only in his boxer shorts and vests, Mashapa goes looking for the criminals. Chaos ensues until Mashapa finds out that the clothes were bought from a mysterious stranger.
And this will launch the new era of... the Kasi Superhero.
Episode 2: Taking the Rap
After receiving a tip-off about a man who sells fake Bafana Bafana jerseys from Uncle's house in Skotiphola, Mashapa goes after the criminal. Mashapa soon learns that the suspect is a hip hop producer who runs his studio from the backroom in Uncle's yard.
The only way for Mashapa to investigate the suspect is for him to pose as a budding hip hop star. He needs to look the part.
While recording in the studio, he falls in even more in love with the beautiful Thandi Majola.
Episode 3: ID or Not ID
Mashapa is a victim of identity theft when his ID is found on a crime scene after computers were taken from a local school.
Ostracised by the community, thrown out of his own home by his mother, Mashapa has to go undercover and into drag to clear his name.
Episode 4: Is You is or is You Ain't My Baby?
When Mashapa's mother is robbed of her pension, Mashapa goes all out for finding the criminal and raining retribution on his head.
However he discovers that the woman he loved and trusted more than his own mother – well maybe not that much – is the syndicate leader behind everything.
Will Mashapa be able to do the right thing?
