Chain Reaction is a 1996 action film directed by Andrew Davis.
When a scientist comes up with the answer to the world's energy crisis it's a big day for science. But it's also potentially a big pay day for the right people.
Soon the man who came up with a plan to save the world is out on a limb and trying to save his own skin.
Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman and Keanu Reeves head up this thriller about plans to save the world that land two top scientists in a world of danger.
Sometimes it just doesn't pay to do a good deed. Just ask Eddie Kasalivich and Paul Shannon, two environmentalists who've stumbled across the solution to all of mankind's problems.
Eddie is a talented young physics student working with his supervisor on ways of making energy without producing pollution.
Partly by accident Eddie discovers how to produce enough energy from water to generate masses of power. His discovery is so impressive it's soon realised that a city like Chicago could be powered with just a glass of water.
It's a nifty discovery and the perfect answer to the world's carbon emission problem. The only snag is that something this good could make someone a lot of money. It's not long before a mysterious group with designs on the plans make their move.
And they're about to make Eddie the main suspect in a mass conspiracy that could spell certain death - not only for Eddie, but for thousands of people.
Eddie's set a chain reaction in motion and not even a force of nature can prevent what's coming next.
