Pump Up The Volume is a South African music reality competition series in which unsigned bands battle it out to find the best among them.
The series aired on SABC3 from 21 October to 9 December, 2007, on Sundays at 21h30. There are eight hour-long episodes in the series.
Synopsis
Entries for the competition were open nationwide and bands had to submit their music via mms, post or by uploading their video to the show's official website. All bands who submitted entries had to have at least three original songs.
The show's four judges are:
Erin Sampson: singer/actress and winner of Coca Cola Popstars 1
Paul Rotherham: 94.7 Highveld Stereo DJ
Dennis East: professional musician and music producer
Zwai Bala: professional musician, formerly of TKZee
Once all the entires were in the judges went through them all and chose 12 finalists who'll be introduced in the premiere episode.
They'll go through a process of elimination until there are five bands left who'll go into a final showdown. During this time they'll go through a weeks workshop where they'll work with instrumentalists, vocallists and professional musos.
Once they've been through the process they'll be fruther eliminated until a final winning band walks away with the first place prizes.
