Season 3 premiered on SABC3 on Sunday 23 August 2009, at 17h00. New episodes air weekly. There are 22 episodes in the third season.

Season 1

When his wife dies in a car accident, Dr. Andrew Brown leaves behind his New York lifestyle and a successful career as a neurosurgeon and moves to the small town of Everwood, Colorado with his 15-year old son Ephram.

Andy sets up practice and immediately makes enemies with the only other doctor in Everwood, Dr. Harold Abbott. The two develop a love-hate relationship as small town living forces their paths to cross continuously.

Ephram, a budding classical pianist, is struggling to come to terms with his mother’s death. He hates Everwood and its small town living but eventually warms up to it when he falls for Amy Abbott, Dr. Abbott’s daughter.

Amy has a boyfriend though, Colin, who happens to be in a coma after a serious car accident. Andy is called in to operate on Colin but things don't go according to plan.

With so much unsettling change, Andy wonders if his grand experiment of moving to this simple Colorado town was a wise decision. In the year ahead, both father and son will face tough decisions about their future.

Season 2

Dr. Brown relocates his family to Everwood, Colorado, after his wife dies in a car accident. After a shaky start, Ephram is finally adjusting and has started dating Madison, Delia’s babysitter.

After the death of her boyfriend, Colin, Amy becomes depressed and rebellious. She moves in with her grandmother and begins a relationship with a drug-dealing Tom.

She later has a wake-up call when Tom OD’s on drugs.

Dr. Andy Brown also finds love in the form of Dr. Linda Abbott, Dr. Harold’s sister. It soon comes to an end when she is forced to close her practice due to the fact that she is HIV positive. She moves out of town and out of Andy’s life.

Madison breaks up with Ephram because she feels he is too intense for her but later discovers that she is pregnant with his baby.

Dr. Brown persuades her not to tell Ephram as he has his whole life ahead of him.

Ephram and Amy have started a relationship in the interim and even when he leaves for the summer to study at Julliard, their relationship continues to blossom.

Season 3

Season 3 in Everwood, Colorado and everything is seemingly as it should be.

Dr. Brown and his family have adjusted to small town living after moving to Everwood after the death of his wife.

Ephram and Amy’s relationship move to new levels and everything seems to be going well. That is until Ephram goes for an interview at Julliard and bumps into his ex-girlfriend, Madison.

Dr. Brown persuades Madison to tell Ephram the truth about the baby and when she does it leads to a breakdown of Ephram’s relationship with his father and eventually Amy as well. Ephram sells all his possessions and buys a ticket to London.

Dr. Brown has been trying to help John Hayes recover, after a stroke left him mentally incapacitated.

During this time he falls for Amanda Hayes, John’s wife. When John does eventually recover, Andy and Amanda part ways.

Dr Abbott’s wife, Rose, is diagnosed with cancer. After various treatments fail, Dr. Brown operates successful on Rose.

Amy chooses not to go Princeton just yet as she wants to look after her mother.

Season 4

Nina finally chooses between the two men she loves.

Amy develops a new friendship with college-age student Reid while waiting on her mother Rose at the hospital. Also, Amy and Rose find that Rose's cancer has driven them apart rather than brought them together.

Bright flirts with a new girl who might become his roommate, but is more involved in knowing what girlfriend Hannah scribbled off the postcard that she sent to him.

Lastly, Ephram makes an emotional return to Everwood just in time for an unexpected wedding.
