Thirteen aspirant singers and rappers tour the country with Missy Elliott as they compete against each other for the grand prize of a record deal and $100 000. While living together in a tour-bus for 10 weeks, they are subjected to weekly tests ranging from choreographed dances, songwriting, rhyming etc where one contestant is eliminated each week. Added to the stress of living in such close proximity under competitive circumstances, makes for interesting viewing.
The contestants are aged between 19 and 29 and they come from different backgrounds. There are some from the ghetto and others from the ‘hood. What they have in common is their love of music and their aspirations to make it big.
Missy and her three judges from the music industry are: R&B singer/songwriter/producer Teena Marie, Grammy Award-winning producer Dallas Austin, who has created hits with some of music's top artists, including Madonna, TLC, Pink, Gwen Stefani; and the president of Violator Management, Mona Scott, who represents rappers like Busta Rhymes & 50 Cent, and R&B among others.
