Californication is an American comedy-drama television series created by Tom Kapinos and starring David Duchovny as Hank Moody, a troubled novelist whose move to Los Angeles and problems with his job complicate the relationships with his ex-girlfriend Karen and daughter Becca.
"I'm disgusted with my life and myself, but I'm not unhappy about that." - Hank Moody.
David Duchovny makes a return to television in Californication, a comedy series centering around novelist Hank Moody. Hank's obsession with honesty and his self-destructive behaviour - drinks, drugs and sex - are simultaneously destroying and enriching his career.
He's just holding it together and he doesn't mind it one bit.
The apple of Hank's eye is Becca, his 13-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Karen. She's smart, possibly too smart for her wayward father, as Hank struggles to combine his duties as a father whilst still carrying a torch for Karen.
Simultaneously, Hank is trying to re-launch is writing career after the dismal screenplay of his best-selling novel flops.
His agent, Charlie, is desperate for Hank to put a stop to his compulsive behaviour and concentrate on writing new material but Hank is on a rollercoaster of ecstasy and he's going too fast to stop.
All of this thrown in with a scandalous one night stand with Mia, who just happens to be the 16-year-old daughter of Karen's new boyfriend, makes Hank's life very, very messy.
Produced by Showtime, Californication is created and executive produced by Tom Kapinos and executive produced by David Duchovny.
