Dr. Phil is an American television talk show hosted by Phil McGraw. After McGraw's success with his segments on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Phil debuted on September 16, 2002.
On both shows McGraw offers advice in the form of "life strategies" from his life experience as a clinical psychologist.

The show is a spin-off from The Oprah Winfrey Show where Dr. Phil regularly joined Oprah as a host.
In 2002 Oprah's Harpo Studio's launched Dr. Phil and since it's launch on November 30 it's been syndicated throughout the US.
Filmed in Los Angeles the show covers a wide range of social, emotional, physical and financial topics and includes regular follow-ups with people who've been given advice.
Dr. Phil has become reknowned for insisting on honesty from everyone he talks to which he emphasis through his popular catch-phrase: "Tell it like it is."
