Vir Beter of Baie Beter is a South African, Afrikaans-language television sitcom created by Willie Esterhuizen about a man who will do whatever it takes to provide for his family.
What does a man do when he loses his job? School fees must be paid and his wife might not see him as her knight in shining armour anymore. The answer? Whatever it takes.
The series stars Wynand Vollenstee as Boetie Botha, the unemployed head of the house. The love of his life, Barbara, is played by Belinda Parkin. They have two home schooled children: Barbie (Michelle du Plessis), the oldest, and Buks (Luan Jacobs), who is two years younger.
Lelia Etsebeth plays Boetie's stewardess sister Bokkie, who lives rent-free with the Bothas. Bokkie works as a flight attendant for the budget airline Banana Airways, primarily because she has a cosmopolitan shoe store list which she is systematic checking off... or rather, walking off.
Rounding out the cast is Alvin Bruinders Boetie's best friend and neighbour Colin, who worked with him at "training".
Vir Beter of Baie Beter was created by Willie Esterhuizen, who was the executive producer for WESTEL. He was also the script writer and co-director with Pieter Esterhuizen.
