About the Show

The Final Cut is a South African acting reality competition series in which contestants face weekly dramatic challenges in order to win one of two parts on SABC drama series.

The SABC is looking for two new faces to fill the shoes of two new characters in one of SABC's prominent dramas. This competitive driven reality show is on the search for new raw talent with one ultimate goal: they have the need to act on SABC.

The resident judges' nationwide audition search took place in Pietermaritzburg, East London and Pretoria. Fourteen of the hottest undiscovered actors will be brought to the sets of SABC's dramas to face the definitive actors' challenge.

Each week, the Top 14 actors are put through episodic acting challenges that test their craft. Challenges include learning a script in 15 minutes; pulling of a romantic love scene; character improvisation; and character makeovers.

The competition gets heated as the judges make the gruelling decision to cut one actress and one actor in each challenge episode.

The series is hosted by actor and presenter Lawrence Maleka, with resident judges Karin van der Laag, Mmabatho Montsho and Thabang Moleya. Culling judges include Clive Mathibe and Zizi Peteni.

The Final Cut is produced by EndemolShine Africa. The series producer is Nomalizwe Guimaraes and the series director is Danny Mokhatla. The music was composed by Marshall Harmse.
