New Scandinavian Cooking is a cooking show produced by Tellus Works in which a variety of Scandinavian chefs showcase the different regions and dishes of their home countries of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
The first, second and fourth seasons were hosted by Norwegian food writer Andreas Viestad, the third season by Swedish chef and television personality Tina Nordström, and the 5th season by Danish Claus Meyer, continuing the Scandinavian theme of the show.
The food is not made in studio but outdoors, on a portable kitchen that is set up on location, often in faraway places, like remote beaches or mountain precipices.
Beginning in 2003, the show debuted on PBS in the United States. It is also aired in about 60 other countries, including China, Germany, Italy, France and South Africa. There are 65 half-hour episodes in five seasons.
New Scandinavian Cooking airs in South Africa on DStv's BBC Food channel.
Season 4 premiered on BBC Food on Friday 20 June 2008, at 18h00. Double episodes air back-to-back each week, from 18h00-19h00. There are 13 episodes in the fourth season.

New Scandinavian Cooking with Andreas Viestad
(Season 1, 2 and 4)
New Scandinavian Cooking with Andreas Viestad follows a simple recipe for success:
Take one custom-designed, portable kitchen. Add a dynamic chef whose taste for adventure is surpassed only by his ability to work with food. Stir in a hearty helping of Scandinavian culture and history, and then set the whole concoction loose amid the gorgeous Norwegian countryside.
Host Andreas Viestad is one of Norway's most respected food journalists and the author of a collection of award-winning cookbooks.
Whether he's whipping together a salad on the edge of a 2000-foot summit or diving into icy seas in search of king crabs, Andreas brings a truly fresh approach to the art of cooking.
Using traditional Scandinavian ingredients and simple techniques, he creates modern dishes that are as unique and delicious as they are easy to prepare.
New Scandinavian Cooking with Tina Nordström
(Season 3)
The beauty of Sweden is on full display in New Scandinavian Cooking with Tina Nordström. Equal parts travel, cooking and adventure, the series is a culinary journey through a land of breathtaking sights and irresistible food.
Host Tina Nordström is a professional chef and the author of three acclaimed cookbooks on Scandinavian cuisine. A mainstay on Swedish TV, she was voted the country's most popular female television personality for two consecutive years.
Armed with a custom-designed, portable kitchen and an appetite for excitement, Tina showcases the best of Swedish culture and food.
The same curiosity that drives her to tackle the physical challenges of the region — such as ice-swimming, paragliding and reindeer racing — leads her to also seek out and reinvent some of the country's finest recipes.
From savoury seafood dishes and hearty winter stews to creative desserts and pastries, Tina brings an elegant simplicity to the preparation of traditional ingredients and the creation of thoroughly modern meals.
New Scandinavian Cooking with Claus Meyer
(Season 5)
New Scandinavian Cooking with Claus Meyer showcases the best of Danish culture and cuisine. From Denmark's rocky coast to its idyllic countryside, host Claus Meyer leaves no stone unturned in his search for the country's most breathtaking locations and irresistible recipes.
Meyer is a renowned author of 14 cookbooks and the former host of the Danish cooking series Meyer's Kitchen.
In addition to serving as an assistant professor of foodstuff science at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen, he is the co-owner of the Michelin star restaurant Nomaa.
Whether he's preparing pâté near an old Viking burial site, hunting for grouse along a breathtaking mountain range or concocting a vodka-based drink atop inland ice, Claus brings an unparalleled level of expertise — and an adventurous spirit — to the creation of traditional and modern Scandinavian dishes.
