The Generations 15th Birthday Special is a South African television special produced by Morula Pictures in which Connie Ferguson hosts a one-hour trip through the history of South African soapie Generations as it celebrated its 15th birthday through the month of February.
The special features interviews with creator Mfundi Vundla, the cast and crew (past and present) and includes behind-the-scenes inserts and clips from past episodes.
The Generations 15th Birthday Special aired on SABC1 on Thursday 26 February 2009, at 20h30. It was an hour long.
Synopsis
Generations, SABC1's longest-running locally produced soap, broke new ground when it first went on air on the 4th of February, 1994.
To celebrate the show's 15th anniversary, the channel re-screened the first episode of Generations on local television on Wednesday 4 February 2009, at 20h30.
The episode opened with the youthful Rebecca Malope singing at the funeral of Mama Moroka. Actors and actresses appearing in the episode included David Phetoe, Sello Maake ka-Ncube, Arthur Molepo, Vinolia Mashego, Tina Jaxa–Billie, Mxolisi Hulana and Charmaine Mtinta, amongst others. The late Daphne Hlomuka also featured as Rosy.
The Generations 15th Birthday Special follows on Thursday 26 February, 2009. Connie Ferguson will take viewers on a special journey through Generations down the years.
The special will look at the lives and roles of people (cast and crew) who have been part of this long-running series. Interviews will be conducted with men and women whose contributions have made Generations the success it has been over the years, including creator Mfundi Vundla.
Behind the scenes and inserts from past episodes will also form part of the special.
