Synopsis
Best described as "The Contender Meets the Biggest Loser", Way of the Warrior features 16 overweight guys who - over the course of four intense months - learn the martial art of Muay Thai, fighting each other to stay in the competition while also losing weight.
A group of sixteen 25- to 35-year-old men have the opportunity to train at Dragon Power, South Africa's premier Muay Thai Gym, which is based in Cape Town.
They are trained by two-time World Muay Thai Champion - Quentin “The Dragon” Chong - and through the transformative power of Martial Arts become lean, formidable fighting machines.
The catch is that if these guys wish to stay in the gym they will have to fight their mates for it. Each contestant will have to use their new-found martial arts skills to fight their competitors in the ring, for the right to remain in the gym.
Using the Muay Thai techniques they have been taught, each contestant has to survive weeks of elimination as they fight for the honour of being named the ultimate warrior.
Auditions were held in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth in December 2009.
