Geraldina die Tweede (Geraldina the Second) is a South African comedy-drama television series created by Esta Steyn about a woman who hatches a plan to get her hands on her recently deceased step-sister's fortune.
In Tranquil Waters House, an old-age home in the Strand, Katy Tredoux (Margot Luyt) receives news that her step-sister, Geraldina – or Dina – de Jongh, has died suddenly.
Sharing this news with her friends Greta (Antoinette Kellerman), Dak (Marko van der Colff) and Cyril (Eric Nobbs), she tells them that Geraldina used to be married to a very rich man, Claudius van Straaten (Nic de Jager), who now lives on a wine estate outside Stellenbosch.
When Katy finds out that she didn't inherit anything but suitcases of Geraldina's old clothing, she is furious, having fondly imagined herself on holiday in the Bahamas. Intent on revenge, she hatches a plot to make a bit of money out of Geraldina and Claudius.
Katy's plan is that Greta pass herself off as Dina in order to win the love of Claudius again. Greta, however, wants nothing to do with the plan.
Will Katy get the better of old Claudius or will the dead Geraldina have the last say in the matter?
Also starring in the series are Chantal Stanfield as intrepid reporter Florys, Celeste Matthews as the Matron of the old age home, Nina Wassung as Claudius's housekeeper Lisa and Moira Lister as Lady Anne Fairchild.
Other actors in the cast include Jan Ellis as Lukas, Trix Pienaar as Fiona, Peter Butler as Godfrey, June van Merch as Suster Melrose, James Ryan as Dimitrius and Leon Kruger as Brewis.
Geraldina die Tweede was produced by Fremantle Media with executive producers Herman Binge and Lindsay Reid-Ross. The screenplay was written by Esta Steyn and Sandra Prinsloo was the director. The supervising producer for kykNET was Marida Swanepoel.
