Clean Break is a South African television drama miniseries produced by Magic Factory about a girl who, upon reaching rock bottom, finds a man who sweeps her off her feet, only to discover she has to deal with his jealous, psychotic ex-girlfriend who is determined to sabotage her new relationship.
The series originally aired on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel from 1-29 May, 2013, on Wednesdays at 21h00. It later aired on Mzansi Wethu. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Clean Break premiered on Mzansi Wethu on Wednesday 21 August 2013, at 21h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are five hour-long episodes in the series.
Synopsis
Reneiloe had always wanted to be a teacher and when she received a grant from an NGO to study, she thought that her dream would come true but fate had other ideas.
When her mother becomes too sick to work, she must take on her job as a cleaner to bring money into the house. Betrayed by her best friend, pursued by a loser and stuck in a menial job, all seems lost and her dreams seem forgotten.
But we all know fate works in strange ways...
Just when things reach rock bottom she meets Mandla. He gives her the opportunity of a lifetime but his jealous psychotic girlfriend is determined to sabotage them.

Episode 1: Dreams and Responsibilities
Reneiloe is about to graduate as a newly qualified teacher. She finally has a chance to do something with her life by making a difference in other peoples. Her mother Martha is bursting with pride, especially when her daughter could get her ideal job.
But as Martha's secret is revealed, Reneiloe getting a job becomes less of a fantasy and more of a harsh reality.
Episode 2: A Mop, A Bucket and A Whole New Life
Tragedy strikes Reneiloe and she must learn to cope with things by herself. She loses much more than she thinks in a short space of time and now finds herself alone.
As things go from bad to worse she is left fearing for her job when a new adversary makes herself very clearly known.
Episode 3: Know Your Enemy
Reneiloe is given the chance to rise above her current lot in life and pursue her dream again. Will being forced to work with her nemesis lead to something positive or finish her dream for good? Will she come out fighting or wave the flag of surrender?
Episode 4: A Friend, A Foe and Everything In Between
Reconciliation is on the cards for Reneiloe and someone she never thought she would see again. But how long will it last before the mistrust raises its ugly head again?
Meanwhile there are darker, more threatening issues developing as Sasha is hell bent on seeking revenge on Mandla.
Episode 5: A Woman Scorned
As things seem to return to normal, Reneiloe makes plans for her future. She has grown as a person to know what she wants and those around her have a new found respect for her.
But will one last brush with her past end all of it or will she be able overcome the situation and bring a positive outcome for all? Will the dream eventually come true?
