Description

Test the Nation is a television programme, first broadcast in 2001 by BNN in the The Netherlands and broadcast in South Africa on SABC2 as one-off TV Specials.

It is made locally by Urban Brew.

The format is designed to allow viewers and studio guests to answer a number of questions in order to measure their IQ or their ability in some other 'intellectual' area.

The National Parenting Test is the third one-off special of Test The Nation, following two previous editions: the National Intelligence Test and the National Driving Test.

The driving test aired on 14 August 2005 and the IQ test on 2 April 2006.

Hosted by Jeremy Maggs (Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?) and Masechaba Moshoeshoe (The Big Question), Test The Nation is a quiz show blending competition, entertainment and education.

The third instalment - National Parenting Test - will see four "typical" groups of parents compete in different categories of multiple-choice questions on parenting.

In studio there will also be celebrity parents as well as parents of celebrities, who will be invited by producers to participate in the one-off quiz.

The celebrities and parents have yet to be announced. Of the guests who have been invited there are four groups with 28 in each group. The groups consist of moms, dads, teenagers and grandparents.

Viewers can also participate in the quiz via SMS - all MTN, Vodacom and Cell C subscribers can participate.

Viewers must register via the SMS line in the weeks leading up to the test (registration opened yesterday and closes at 18h00 on 19 November, just before the show starts).

Once the show begins they'll then send their answers to the questions being asked on the show to the Parent Test number (SMS 32727).

To register for the quiz SMS the following to the Parent Test Number:

Test - Gender (M/F) - Age - Province

eg. Test - M - 30 - Western Cape

Only registered viewers will be allowed to participate on the night. It costs one rand to register and R5 to play the game. Throughout the show viewers stand a chance to win a range of prizes.
