Damages is an American legal drama thriller television series created by Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman which revolves around the brilliant yet ruthless lawyer Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), her protégée Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) and the law firm Hewes runs in New York City.
Each season features a major case that Hewes and her firm take on while also examining a chapter of the complex relationship between Ellen and Patty.
The first two seasons centre on the law firm Hewes & Associates (located in New York City). Later seasons centre more on Patty and Ellen's relationship as Ellen attempts to distance herself from Hewes & Associates professionally and personally.
Damages was created and executive produced by KZK (Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler) and co-executive produced by Mark A. Baker.

The first season premiered in South Africa on M-Net on Tuesday 15 January 2008, at 21h30. The channel re-screened the premiere on Monday 21 January after the 20h00 movie, due to public demand.

The series aired in the USA on FX (Seasons 1-3) and Audience Network (Seasons 4-5) from 24 July, 2007 to 12 September, 2012. There are 59 hour-long episodes in five seasons.
Damages premiered in South Africa on M-Net on Tuesday 15 January 2008, at 21h30. It began simulcasting on DStv's M-Net HD from Season 2 onwards. It later began airing on DStv's M-Net Series channel, becoming exclusive to the channel for the final season.
