Big Cat Diary (known as Big Cat Week from 2004-2007) is a British documentary series produced for the BBC which follows the adventures of big cats living in Kenya's Masai Mara game reserve.
The series was first filmed in 1996 and shown on BBC One. Updates followed, and new characters were introduced every two years or so on BBC Two.
In 2002, the two original presenters, Jonathan Scott and Simon King, were joined by Saba Douglas-Hamilton.
Big Cat Diary airs in South Africa on DStv's Animal Planet channel.
Season 7 premiered on Animal Planet on Sunday 8 March 2009, at 20h00. There are five half-hour episodes in the seventh season.
Synopsis
Since 1996, the captivating animal soap Big Cat Diary has followed the fortunes and misfortunes of lions, leopards and cheetahs in their natural environment.
Over the years, host Jonathon Scott and his team have intimately followed the lives of several individual cats, their social groups and families and have brought some stunning images to televison screens.
New cats have been introduced, but some old favourites have also reappeared on the scene in successive seasons.
