The Muppets is an American television mockumentary comedy series developed by Bill Prady and Bob Kushell, based on characters created by Jim Henson and set in Los Angeles which depicts the everyday personal and professional lives of The Muppets during production of Up Late with Miss Piggy, a fictional late-night talk show starring Miss Piggy.
The series serves as a parody of other mockumentary-style series such as Modern Family, Parks and Recreation and The Office, employing the same single-camera setup filming style with the implication of a documentary crew filming everyone.
For the first time ever, a series explores the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires.
This is a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.
Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kushell (Anger Management) are co-writers and executive producers. Randall Einhorn (Wilfred), Bill Barretta, Debbie McClellan and Kyle Laughlin are also executive producers.
The Muppets is produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio.
