Synopsis
Soul Sundays is a chilled out, relaxed music and chat show.
Soulful, soothing and sometimes sexy, the show features a video line-up of old school 80’s R&B jams and smooth jazz from the likes of Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert George Benson, Al Jerreau and Regina Belle.
The show will also add a touch of the new school sounds into the mix, including modern slow jams; relaxed tracks from Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Ciara; the kinds of sounds made by the likes of Letta and Caiphus, Simphiwe Dana, Jill Scott, Les Nubians, Zap Mama, Maxwell, Bilal, D’Angelo, Swazi Dlamini, MXO, Slick Angel, Thandiswa, Zamajobe, Lira and Unathi.
Soul Sundays melds the format of beloved romantic, relaxed, deep voiced radio shows that are popular with South Africans. The sort of late night sessions where classic soulful R&B is played and viewers call in just to talk to the DJ or to convey a message to a loved one.
Part of the show will feature music videos and the other half will feature a lively chat between the guest and the presenter. Two of the music videos will be chosen by viewers via fax, email or sms.
The show is presented by former Idols III contestant Ayanda Mpama.
