iKani is a South African television drama series which tells the story of a young artist called Khanya who finds out that she is from an isiNdebele family, having been raised by her aunt as a Zulu.
Now, she must learn about her roots and her culture as she goes through a journey of self-discovery.
The leading role of Khanya is played by Thandeka Mdeliswa. Also starring are Themba Mahlangu as Butho, Florence Masebe as Balise, Nhlanhla Mahlangu as Jonas and Nomonde Mbusi as Dinah.
Other cast members include Wandile Molebatsi as Vince, Themba Mahlangu as Butho, Nhlanhla Mahlangu as Jonas, Frieda Makoba as Esther, Sipho Mbele as Msweswe, Thulane Shange as Clement, Kagisano Mokoena as Simphiwe, Sophie Kabini as Ouma and January Kabini as Themba.
The first ever isiNdebele television drama series, iKani was developed to explore the colourful and rich culture of AmaNdebele.
iKani is produced by Coalstove Pictures with producers Wandile Molebatsi and Scottnes L. Smith. The series is written by Ayanda Halimana and directed by Sello Letsatsi and Mmoni Moabi. Sphamandla Madondo is a writer.
