Murdoch Mysteries: Home for the Holidays is a television special serving as a standalone episode of the crime procedural Murdoch Mysteries, set in Toronto at the dawn of the 20th century.
The series explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch, a methodical and dashing detective who pioneers innovative forensic techniques to solve some of the city’s gruesome murders.
In this Christmas special, William and Ogden travel to Victoria to spend the holidays with Murdoch's brother, Jasper.
Once there, they are called upon to solve an archeologist's murder, and become embroiled in a land dispute between the indigenous Songhees and Haida peoples.
Meanwhile, the Brackenreids are offered an investment opportunity that may not be all it seems, and Crabtree and Higgins plan a ski holiday with their sweethearts Nina Bloom and Ruth Newsome that may be more dangerous than expected.
Murdoch Mysteries is developed and produced by Shaftesbury, in association with CBC, ITV Studios Global Entertainment and UKTV, and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit and the COGECO Program Development Fund.
Shaftesbury Sales Company and ITV Studios Global Entertainment hold worldwide distribution rights for the series. The series was adapted for television from Maureen Jennings's popular Detective Murdoch series of novels.
