Countdown 2010 is a South African sports magazine show produced by Talent Attack for SABC1, which aims to keep viewers informed and involved in the preparation for the largest sports event ever held in the African continent - the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
The weekly half-hour series premiered on SABC1 on Tuesday 10 June 2008, at 18h30.
Synopsis
Countdown 2010 is a "one-stop shop" to meet the ever-growing demand for news leading up to the staging of the 2010 World Cup.
The show aims to supply viewers with an informed, lively update on issues ranging from the progress of the stadium construction programme to security, marketing, IT and all other work streams, to ways in which people can participate in business opportunities related to the tournament.
Talent Attack, an emerging production company in Johannesburg, was selected to deliver the programme and is working closely with FIFA and the Local Organising Committee.
Countdown 2010 is hosted by actor and presenter Fezile Makhanya, comedian Eugene Khoza and sports presenter, voice-over artist, scriptwriter and producer Lebo Motsoeli.
