Dress My Nest is an American interior design reality makeover television series produced by PB&J Television Inc. in which interior designer Thom Filicia customises original design plans for participants that best express their personal style.
The series aired in the USA on the Style Network from 28 March, 2007 to 24 June, 2009. There are 40 half-hour episodes in four seasons.
Dress My Nest originally aired in South Africa on DStv's The Style Network, ending its run on 7 September, 2009. It later aired on TopTV's Top One channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
The series premiered on Top One on Wednesday 13 February 2013, at 20h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 10 episodes in the first season.
Season 1
Interior design guru Thom Filicia believes that the key to good interior design is to understand as much as possible about his client.
Part decorator and part "design detective," Thom uses his own unique process to identify what most inspires and defines the homeowner.
In each episodes of Dress My Nest, Filicia and resident fashion expert Erika Martin meet with a woman looking to redesign her living space. They check out the space she wants designed and review her wardrobe to help find that “defining outfit.”
The two experts then “hatch the plan” — analyzing the inspirational outfit to determine exactly what it is saying about the homeowner and how it can inspire the décor of the room to be made over.
Can a twill hat help you select your furniture? How can animal skin shoes inform the colour of a room?
After conceiving the design, Thom presents it to the show participant for reactions and input. Then he and his team hit the streets to find all the right elements to bring his vision to life — furniture and decorative touches, rugs, couches, wall hangings and paint — everything that will come together to reflect what her favourite outfit revealed.
Finally, the designers present the new room to the homeowner, hoping she finds it as comfortable and stylish as that favourite outfit. While the results are often unpredictable, they are always as unique as the participating homeowners.
Season 2
Dress My Nest returns for another life-changing, room-altering season as interior decorator Thom Filicia creates more wardrobe-inspired rooms.
This time, Thom helps bring the outdoors in for a nature-lover's nest, creates a catch-all room for a mother of twins, and brings East and West together for an Asian-inspired master bedroom.
Watch as these pads get a complete wall-to-wall marvelous makeover.
But will these spaces fit the owner as well as the outfits they're based on? Will the homeowners find the designs innovative and welcoming — or over the top and cold?
Either way, there's no doubt these rooms will be as unique as the people they're made for.
Season 3
Go behind-the-"seams" as our design detective returns for another fabulous season of Dress My Nest to rescue style-savvy-yet-decor-defunct divas from their painfully plain pads.
This time, Thom Filicia tackles some of his toughest interior decorating disasters to date, including a college sorority's sad excuse for a social room and fitness fanatic's lackluster living area.
Also, can Thom help soon-to-be newlyweds marry their dramatically different decorating styles? Plus, see him put a professional spin on a do-it-yourselfer's bleak abode!
Watch and learn as our design guru helps these homeowners create the perfect design plan by pulling inspiration from their own personal possessions!
Season 4
Follow famed design guru Thom Filicia as he shows people how to find their true style — and live in it — in the fabulous fourth season of Dress My Nest.
Using a person's favourite items as inspiration, Thom transforms painfully plain pads into a true reflection of each owner's unique personality.
This season, Thom brings two beach-loving hippies back to the modern age with a streamlined, island-style space, a pair of newlyweds transform their dog-dominated space into a bedroom inspired by passion, and a former magician's assistant flips her pad into a space that reflects her more conventional career change.
Plus, our famed decorator shows The Hills star Audrina Patridge how to make her uninspired patio just as chic as her impressive interior!
Will Thom's clients be pleased with these magnificent makeovers? Watch and see!
