Gary Rhodes' Local Food Heroes is a British food television series produced by Denham Productions as a spin-off of UK TV's Local Food Hero, in which chef and restaurateur Gary Rhodes embarks on a mission across the UK to find the most passionate food producers, spectacular specialist food retailers, funky fast food joints and the most highly rated restaurants.
The series premiered in the UK on UK TV in November 2007. There are 11 hour-long episodes in the series.
Gary Rhodes' Local Food Heroes premiered in South Africa on DStv's BBC Lifestyle channel on Thursday 23 October 2008, at 18h30.

Synopsis
Perhaps more than any other British chef, restaurateur Gary Rhodes has revolutionised food preparation in the UK with his unique and daring approach to the culinary arts. In this series, he reveals the independent and everyday heroes that inspire him.
Rhodes embarks on a mission across the length and breadth of the UK to find the most passionate food producers, spectacular specialist food retailers, funky fast food joints and the most highly rated restaurants.
In part, Gary Rhodes' Local Food Heroes is a tribute to the diversity of Britain's independent food shops, farm stalls, cafés, pubs and restaurants, but the series is also a glorious culinary tour of the UK, giving viewers a mouth-watering and informative treat.
Gary assesses all the contenders in regional heats, and the regional winners then go through to the nail-biting final.
