The Tick is an American animated television series adaptation of the New England Comics superhero, The Tick, about a superhero tick who protects The City against a variety of incompetent villains.
The series originally aired in the USA on FOX from 10 September, 1994 to 27 November, 1996. There are 36 half-hour episodes in three seasons.
The Tick premiered in South Africa on SABC1 on Tuesday 16 September 2008, at 15h30. There are 13 episodes in the first season.
Season 2 premiered on SABC1 on Tuesday 16 December 2008, at 15h30. There are 13 episodes in the second season.
Synopsis
After "crashing" the super hero convention, the blue-clad hero, the Tick, is deemed the protector of "The City." On his first mission he runs into Arthur, an accountant with a moth costume who aspires to superherodom.
They soon strike up a hero partnership to protect The City from a host of nefarious villains such as Chairface Chippendale, El Seed and many more.
The Tick gets assigned to defend The City. Arriving there, he meets Arthur, a bank accountant who got fired for wearing his super bunny(moth!)-suit. The Tick asks Arthur to become his sidekick and reside in their headquarters: Arthur's apartment.
Soon some criminals who call themselves "The Idea Men," guys who don't want to work anymore and are impossible to understand because of their masks, rob a bank, but fail thanks to the Tick.
They proceed to threaten to blow up the City's dam if they don't get a million bucks, so the Tick and Arthur go out once more to stop their evil ways.
Casting
The role of Arthur was voiced by Mickey Dolenz for the first season. Rob Paulsen replaced Dolenz in the role for the second and third seasons.
