Season 1

Derren Brown: The Experiments is a British variety series created by Derren Brown and produced by Objective Productions featuring illusionist Derren Brown and made up of four episodes which Brown describes as "a series of ambitious sociological experiment, in which the unwitting subject is a single person, a crowd, or even an entire town".

The series aired in the UK on Channel 4 from 21 October to 11 November, 2011. There are four hour-long episodes in the series.

Derren Brown: The Experiments premiered in South Africa on DStv's BBC Entertainment channel on Sunday 6 May 2012, at 20h25. New episodes broadcast weekly.

Synopsis

Derren Brown returns to our screens with The Experiments, a brand new four-part series. Each stand-alone episode asks and answers a single question featuring the usual inventive and jaw dropping Derren Brown mixture of stunts, suggestion and thought-provoking entertainment combined with tried and tested psychological experiments to illustrate how easily our behaviour can be manipulated.

The Assassin

In The Assassin, the first episode in the series, Derren investigates hypnosis and asks if someone could be hypnotised into a killing a celebrity. Is this really possible? And who will be the celeb?

The Gameshow

In The Gameshow, the second episode in the series, Derren turns himself into the host of a game show and investigates whether we all have the capacity for evil and whether or not being part of a group affects our sense of right and wrong.

The Guilt Trip

In The Guilt Trip, the third episode in the series, Derren investigates what it would take for someone to admit to a murder they didn't commit. An unwitting participant finds himself at the centre of a murder mystery - can Derren convince him to admit to a murder he didn't commit?

The Secret of Luck

In The Secret of Luck - the fourth and final episode of the series - Derren investigates how quickly a rumour can spread and what can be done to convince an entire community that it is "lucky".

This episode takes the form of a documentary fronted by Dawn Porter who acts as Derren's secret agent, starting a rumour in a small community. Can they pull it off?
