Season 1 Synopsis

Over 13 weeks the 12 contestants in three teams will compete on locations in South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda, Mozambique and Uganda in working with local communities to initiate efforts to address local problems.

Imagine Afrika is a social adventure reality show that pits outstanding young African achievers against one another to come up with solutions to some of the continent’s most pressing problems.

Chosen through a continent-wide call for nominations, the contestants represent the diversity of Africa with their exceptional personal achievements and talents.

Filmed in community locations in different African countries, the series provides a platform for more substantive discussion of the key factors driving HIV/AIDS in the context of overall African development.

The show brings together entertainment and real-life situations as the contestants use their initiative and ingenuity to come up with innovative approaches to challenges facing communities across Africa like housing, water supply, food security and HIV/AIDS.

Get swept up in the experience of contestants battling against the odds to demonstrate the power of personal initiative and determination.

Watch as driven personalities trip over their own egos, bump into major cultural differences as they work in unfamiliar environments, and triumph over seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Swept up in the inherent warmth and hospitality of African communities everywhere, the contestants all emerge winners.

Broadcast over 13 weeks across all Africa by the member companies of the African Broadcast Media Partnership Against HIV/AIDS (ABMP) — an historic coalition of broadcast companies to help reinvigorate efforts to combat HIV/AIDS in Africa — Imagine Afrika is part of an ongoing HIV/AIDS public education and awareness campaign designed to re-engage young Africans in combating HIV/AIDS.
