Season 2
The second season of MasterChef South Africa will be twice as filling with a scrumptious second helping: an additional weekly episode on Wednesday nights at the same time.
This means that it will not only be hot in the kitchen when the amateur chefs whip up dishes to get the judges' taste buds tingling - there will be more room for Master Classes, more rewards, incredible guest chefs and for the first time ever the cameras will follow the contestants into the house that they share throughout the competition.
Viewers will see how they cope after a day's stressing behind the stove, and how they react when they find out about new challenges and culinary adventures.
The first season of MasterChef South Africa inspired amateur chefs to get more creative. Very early on during the audition phase for Season 2 it was apparent that the contestants' standard of cooking was significantly higher this year.
The show's expert panel of judges - Andrew Atkinson, Benny Masekwameng and Pete Goffe-Wood - resume their positions to decide who has all the ingredients to become South Africa's next MasterChef.
Apart from the honour of being able to call themselves "MasterChef", the winner of MasterChef South Africa Season 2 will also become the recipient of the following prizes:
From Robertson's, a cash prize of R400,000 as well as R100,000 for the runner-up; a brand new VW Golf 7; a five-night luxurious Maia Luxury Resort & Spa holiday in the Seychelles for the winner and a partner, including business class airfares and spending money, courtesy of Tsogo Sun; a year's free shopping at Woolworths valued at R100,000; as well as a year's supply of wine and a full sommelier course from Nederburg.
MasterChef has been created in over 33 countries globally and brings people of all different ages, cultures and backgrounds together as an uplifting and inspiring series to watch.
Food unites people and again Season 2 of MasterChef South Africa will celebrate our country's diverse culinary heritage and influences.
