Season 3
It doesn't matter what Miranda attempts in life, whether it's dating or simply dealing with her overbearing mother, she always seems to fall flat, quite literally.
Miranda isn't your average girly girl - at 6'1" Miranda gets called Sir once too often, much to the amusement of her childhood friend Stevie, who manages Miranda's joke shop.
And to top it all off, Miranda's mother Penny is disappointed that Miranda runs a joke shop rather than having a proper job.
Picking up where the last season left off, Miranda and her love interest Gary (Tom Ellis) have agreed to be "just good friends" and so future episodes find Miranda determined to get herself a new man to obsess over and keep her mother, Penny (Patricia Hodge) off her back.
Will Miranda and Stevie (Sarah Hadland) ever be responsible enough to make a real success of the shop? Will Miranda ever attract a man?
At the start of the season, an exasperated Penny threatens to cancel Miranda's Christmas and puts her daughter on a strict detox.
And when Stevie lands a new executive job, Miranda tries to follow suit – but is she cut out for office work?
Then there's her complicated relationship with Gary. While Miranda and Gary decide to just be friends, Stevie tries to persuade Miranda to confess her true feelings.
Will the maddening pair ever get together?
