Season 3
Supersterre is an Afrikaans language singing talent show created by South African singer Patricia Lewis and produced by Lewis and her husband Mark Whitehead in which contestants work with a celebrity coach each week and are eliminated by public vote until one winner remains.
The show premiered in 2005 as a four-minute insert on Patricia's television show Blonde Ambisie (Blonde Ambition) and developed into a show of its own in 2006.
The series proper premiered on SABC2 on Friday 25 August 2006, at 19h30. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 3 was scheduled to take place in 2009 but was put on hold after Lewis developed tumours on her vocal cords in mid-2009. At the end of 2009 it was announced that the show would return in 2010.
Season 3 premiered on SABC2 on Friday 19 March 2010, at 19h30. New episodes air weekly. There are 13 hour-long episodes in the third season.

Season 3
Supersterre returns to SABC2 with a brand new season. Season 3 promises to make another aspiring young musician’s dream come true.
The panel has three resident judges and every week a guest judge is invited to join the panel. After being part of the judging panel for the past two seasons, Shaleen Surtie-Richards and Theuns Jordaan are joined in this season by comedian Casper de Vries.
The top 10 contestants will then be coached by well known and established musicians. Each of the five musicians/coaches is assigned to two contestants.
Former Idols winner Heinz Winckler is one of the coaches this season. He is joined by Bianca le Grange, who was one of the coaches in Season 1; top Afrikaans selling female artist Lianie May; classic pop opera and current platinum seller Manuel Escórcio; and Gerhard Steyn, who is known for the song Baby Chocolates.
The contestants have been assigned to the following coaches:
Coach: Gerhard Steyn | Contestants: Marsha Lombard, Reinier Joubert
Coach: Heinz Winkler | Contestants: Natasha Horstmann, Stephanie Baartman-Buthelezi
Coach: Bianca le Grange | Contestants: Annique Lourens, Gideon van Vollenstee
Coach: Lianie May | Contestants: Charneé Duvenhage, Giovanni Divito
Coach: Manuel Escórcio | Contestants: Burger Le Roux, Crystal Loretta Worship
At the end of each episode, a winner for that episode is announced. Three contestants with the lowest score are called forward and one of them gets eliminated based on the judges' scoring.
The overall winner of the competition will receive a recording contract worth R500,000 which includes a music video recording, courtesy of Sony Music, plus R100,000 in cash.
The winner's coach will also receive prize money of R100,000.
