Season 5
Last season Lerato saved the day for Dineo by getting her re-elected as the President of the ANC. Dineo in turn invited her to work in Pretoria at the Union Buildings as her youth advisor, along with her paraplegic brother, Collins. And at the end of Season 4 we also saw Dan proposing to Lerato.
The Season 5 plot involves not only a rogue unit, but the public protector as well, who fights for the issues of equality in the community of Majakaneng. This story is about the new breed of leadership and the challenges they face.
Like Dineo in previous seasons, Lerato is the proverbial new broom but her idealistic nature threatens to trip her up, as she is exposed to politicking, corruption, necessitated coalitions and sensitive negotiations in an economically challenged and potentially violent environment.
All will be lost if she, like Dineo, becomes disillusioned in the individuals running the party...
New cast members this season include Presley Chweneyagae (Tsotsi) as Chief of Staff Andile Grootboom, Warren Masemola (Ses'Top La, Heist) as the Public Protector and Renate Stuurman (Binnelanders, Hard Copy) as Press Secretary Shivane Nare.
Returning to the show is Mothusi Magano (The Lab, Tempy Pushas), this time in a new role as the Secretary General of the ANC, Sello Tlhabanelo. He previously played the Julius Malema-inspired character Tshepo Sadiki in Season 3.
Season 5 is produced by Born Free Media for SABC Education.
